Caleb Bishop: The photoshop project

I made my name in Photoshop! For the life of me I couldn't remember how to alter opacity so I ended up just using the eraser tool on a lower setting, I think it got the same result but wow what a hassle. I also used the same kind of blur technique used in the light saber project, but I don't think it came out very well. Oh well! I feel pretty good about this one, though it is far from my best work.

Cars photoshop

I'm not really too into this one, but we were told to blend a car from the movie Cars into an actual car. I really couldn't get the color just right, and eventually I just did the best I could and quit before I messed it up. So yeah, there's Couper, who may or may not actually be a coup, I didn't bother to check.

"Creative" Photoshop

I wasn't feeling particularly inspired today, so here's this. I used blurs and saturation manipulation to make the shadows and I messed with the color of the background to make the characters look more appropriate within the picture.

Ribbet

Here's a collage I made using a site called Ribbet. If you need to make a collage and want it to be simple and quick, I highly recommend checking it out. While not readily apparent, the central theme of this one is music. Every picture represents some music that I enjoy listening to, like Goldfish, Cake, Cage the elephant, and it also includes a couple video game soundtracks that I really like.

Jedi Master race

I made a picture with lightsabers in it. We messed with color balance, blur and using different layers to do this. Not a whole lot of excitement. I actually had to take someone else's picture to do this since I didn't take one of my own, so props to those guys for being in the picture.

Yearbook Signing Invite & Poster

Not my best work, no big fancy explanation either because honestly I'm just too tired. I did these at Lucidpress in like 10 minutes.

PhotoStory

This is a photostory I made to go along with the loop I created. The pictures are all from a game called Jet Set Radio, a game with some really funky music. Some people said my loop sounded inspired by that, so I used those pictures as sort of a homage. To make the loop I used a program called sony ACID, and to make the video I used PhotoStory. Both are very easy to use and I highly recommend them. Blogger really messed up the quality of this one, so if you want to listen to a nice, high quality version of the song, check out the post below this one.

Storybird

I made this in Storybird. It's a neat website that lets you make story books. it's worth checking out if you want to make a story super easy. The size I chose messes up the word formatting pretty bad, but honestly I've tried too hard to make this thing fit well on the blog on its own that I'm just not feeling up to fighting that battle as well. Sorry.

Photoshop color fun time

(Warning, this is going to be a long one) So our most recent assignment was to alter the color of a photo through Masks and Color Replacement! First, an explanation. Masks are used to put emphasis on colors already present in the picture by desaturating the image and then bringing back colors you want, like this:
turning into this
Not bad huh? It really feels patriotic and a bit solemn with just the red white and blue visible. The second method, Color Replacement, changes the color of the photo without taking out details, for example this:
A black and white fruit bowl was made into:
This fantastic colorful display of fruit. Honestly I just had fun with this one, so I didn't have a set feeling or statement this picture was going for. It was a good time. Anyway, those were just the examples, the pictures I did on my own I think are a little better:

A 1-up mushroom from New Super Mario Bros, transformed into:
This!
Using color replacement, I made it a much better color, pretty simple right? Well, it's a lot harder than it looks. I had to cut the green parts into a separate layer just to keep the color replacement tool from catching the tan bits. Next up is masking, which turned this picture:

A simple looking ice cube into:
Into this, now, I'll level with you for a second, this was supposed to be a second color replacement picture, because I'm dumb and didn't know we had to do one of each. I remedied this by opening the picture back up and adding a mask and removing the blue background, which put more emphasis on the colors I replaced and I think it turned out looking much better than the original. Anyway, that's it. Moral of the story is Photoshop is fun times.

Test Grade

Took a test, got an A, it was a pretty easy test good time. I have no idea why there's all that white up there in the top of that picture, oh well!

A Puzzling Picture

So this picture is a jigsaw of the Legend of Zelda logo used for a couple different titles. (I tried using a link to the past, but the text was black on a black background and it was all just really disappointing and sad looking.) I made this picture on Bighugelabs, but it only saves in jpg so if you're a fan of having nice looking pictures you may want to pass this site up. I also messed with some settings and made my blog a little wider, which was driving me crazy because I could never post my pictures in their correct resolution, but now I can! Not very exciting I know, but I'll take any victory I can get at this point.

CALEB'S FIRST FORAY INTO PHOTOSHOP

So we were supposed to make an image in Photoshop that took advantage of extracted pictures, opacity, transformation and I'm sure a dozen other requirements I can't think of at the moment anyway my picture depicts monochrome Kirbys riding their gallant shark-steeds through a reef, terrorizing the cast of Finding Nemo while several Torpedo Teds harass another fish in the background. Nothing too special since it was more of an exercise than anything else.

Cooltext

Look a neat logo with my name. Neat. Go make your own at Cooltext. It's super easy and super quick and a little super skeevy looking but don't worry it's probably fine.

Co-Lab Project: Design Elements

This is a Prezi I worked on in a group with a couple other people. We went around the school and took pictures of examples of various design elements, then stuck them all over the universe. Thanks to everyone in my group for being helpful, cooperative and being awesome in general.

Weavesilk

I made a neat picture using this little application, check it out if you have a few minutes.

Money and Human Advancement

So I just read an article about a dude who is predicting all this neat stuff that is going to happen involving technology. That's fantastic. Totally looking forward to not being fat and not having to drive. However I know for a fact that the benefit of human kind is not the driving force behind all of these developments; Google is in it for the money. Anyone who says anything contrary to that is lying. it's intriguing to me, however, because Google's motto is "Don't be evil" but by charging fees for such game changing breakthroughs in human existence, have they not become exactly that? Brave New World is a book I highly recommend.

Bomomo

I've always said that I'm not too good at art, but I suppose that just means I'm well on my way to a lucrative career in abstract. Picture created at bomomo.

Fun with QR codes along with some cool websites

The first one is a QR code that leads to youtube. I'm pretty sure everyone who has ever used the internet has experienced the time traveling properties of this site, go in for 30 seconds of a video your friend sent you and you'll come out three hours later, homework incomplete and too tired to do anything. It's advanced techno-wizardry I swear.
The second is for a file hosting site called MEGA. It's pretty good for putting up all your pirated stuff for friends to download documents and other things you need easily accessible to others. They encrypt the downloads on an ip to ip basis, and the way their servers are set up means that the only person who gets the decryption keys is you. That means you have extreme amounts of security when uploading sensitive information using this services I believe they hand out 50gb to anyone who signs up, which is a pretty good deal considering their biggest competitor is...

Dropbox! This is also a file hosting service, but it works a little differently. Instead of just handing out a flat amount of space and demanding you to pay them for more, you can do a couple things to earn extra space. Things that will increase your total stoarage space include: Referring people, linking with certain devices, posting a link on facebook and twitter, activating an email and a whole lot more. Their downloads are fast, reliable and fairly accessible to anyone with an interface that anyone can understand.

Voki

Google Glass

I'm not even sure how to start with this. Google glass is insane. It looks ridiculous and is incredibly invasive, however that's not even the worst part. People are using them while driving. Using cellphones while driving is bad enough, it pulls your eyes away from the road allowing split second errors that can lead to catastrophic, life altering consequences, and now people want to have a screen in front of them at all times while driving? More and more often I'm seeing a lack of common sense in this world, it's pretty disappointing.
